Kara’s acrylic workshops currently run in her Studio Gallery at Curborough Countryside Centre, on the outskirts of Lichfield, WS13 8ES.

From January 2027 Kara is excited to be moving her painting workshops to the charming Needwood Jubilee Village Hall, Sudbury Road, Newchurch, DE13 8RQ. Just up the road from Curborough and surrounded by the beauty and tranquillity of a countryside setting. The new venue offers an inspiring place to slow down, create and enjoy a day of painting together, with plenty of light, space and parking. Lunches can be available for those who would like a sandwich from the local bakery rather than a packed lunch, if preferred.

The aim of Kara’s workshops is to encourage those who are beginners and to guide those who already have skills and want to explore new techniques with acrylic paint, in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.

One artist’s quality canvas or board and the use of an upright easel per person is provided for each workshop, unless otherwise stated. Step by step demonstration will take place throughout the day and critique and guidance will be provided.

Tea, coffee and huge slices of delicious cake will be provided for ‘Elevenses’, essential for creativity.

A rough guide of what you will need to bring with you on the day, unless otherwise stated in the program -

  • Acrylic paint - Kara will be demonstrating with the following colours -  Ultramarine Blue, Cobalt Blue, Phthalo Blue, Cerulean Blue, Cadmium Red, Crimson, Cadmium Yellow, Burnt Sienna and Titanium White.

  • Brushes of different sizes and shapes, they can be of bristle, synthetic, cheap or expensive, they will all make a mark of different kinds.

  • Rags for smudging and dabbing.

  • Although delicious ‘Elevenses’ are provided you may want to bring a packed lunch. There will be a short break for lunch.

  • Plenty of enthusiasm and creativity!

Please contact Kara if you are struggling with any of the above equipment as she is  sure she will be able to help. If you have a set of acrylic paints, please do not go out and buy more as you can work with the equipment you already have.

Places on Kara's workshops will be secured on receipt of full payment when booking. This can be by cheque, bank transfer or cash/credit card in person, or by post. Payments are not refundable but can be transferred with notice of 2 weeks prior to date of workshop. Students are responsible for their own travel and accommodation expenses whilst attending a workshop. In the unlikely event that a workshop is cancelled the tutor will not be liable for any accommodation and travel costs incurred.
